Brussels Summer Festival: there will be more than 60 concerts in five days, as usual including a varied mix of styles, from rock and pop to hip-hop, jazz and world music. Where? Place des Palais and other locations around Brussels. When? From 14 to 18 August.
Brussels Flower Carpet: this biennial event of longstanding tradition will take place again this year, with a very special celebration: the 20th anniversary of the Grand-Place entering the UNESCO heritage list. A carpet made up of half a million flowers will be rolled out on the square, inspired for the first time by the Mexican region of Guanajuato, which also possesses a rich floral tradition. An additional exhibition of UNESCO monuments in flowers will be on display in Place de la Bourse. Where? Grand-Place. When? From 16 to 19 August.
Hide and Seek Festival: after two successful editions, Muziekpublique has found new unexpected locations for this world music festival. Proposals include Malagasy melodies at the Royal Yacht Club, blues in an artisanal distillery or shamanic Mongol songs in a funeral gallery in Molenbeek, to name a few.
